Planned Giving

To Our Dear Alleman Alumni & Wonderful Friends,

Like many Americans, you may be looking for ways to ease your tax burden. One way to do that is with planned charitable gifts. You can realize several tax advantages while helping Alleman at the same time.

There are many ways to make a planned gift and I’ve enclosed a brochure that walks you through some of those options. It can be as easy as naming Alleman as a beneficiary to a percentage of your estate upon death, or setting up a charitable trust that can provide for your family now, while ensuring a gift to Alleman in the future.

Would be possible for you to leave Alleman just 1% of your estate. This planned charitable gift will help us to build a strong future for Alleman Catholic High School.

Your gift, whatever it may be, is so beneficial to future Alleman students.  Our endowment began in 1978, when Father Francis Casey gave a $250,000 gift to the school. Since then it has helped hundreds of Alleman students through the years with tuition assistance when needed. We invite you to be a part of this legacy.

You are true Pioneers, and it is due to your love and generosity that Alleman really is the school with a touch of class.

What is Planned Giving?
Planned giving is a gift given in any amount and for any purpose (current operations, capital campaign, endowment) in which the donor makes a gift in light of personal, estate or financial planning considerations.

Bequests, gift annuities, life insurance benefits, charitable remainder trusts and gifts of appreciated securities are all examples of planned gifts.  Such gifts can in some circumstances, maintain or increase your annual income, provide significant tax deductions and avoid capital gain taxes while still supporting Alleman High School

Who benefits from my Planned Giving?
Alleman High School will be able to continue its mission of providing a sound Catholic education for youth in the Illinois Quad Cities.

Consider the Tax Benefits
Every gift made to Alleman High School is tax deductible.  No matter what your income is, if you itemize, you can always lower your income taxes through charitable giving.  Gifts of certain property, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds that have increased in value, can result in extra tax savings.  If you have owned appropriate assets for longer than a year, you can deduct the entire value from your income, including any paper profits you may have had in the investment.  The amount of savings will depend on you tax bracket.  We urge you to discuss you tax planning with your accountant or other financial advisor.

The Alleman Endowment
The Alleman Endowment was established in 1978 as a result of a generous bequest of $250,000 from the estate of Father Francis Casey, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church in Rock Island. This endowment ensures the future of Catholic education for boys and girls in the Rock Island Vicariate by providing a strong tomorrow for Alleman Catholic High School. Your planned gift provides important long-term financial strength and growth for Alleman. Your gift supports our mission of not only providing a quality academic experience, but developing young men and women of faith and character.

Planned Giving Options

Outright Gifts
This is the simplest way to make a planned gift. This is a cash gift that is given directly to Alleman. There may be immediate tax advantages for this type of gift.

Will Bequests
This is another simple way to make a planned gift. You can bequest a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to Alleman.

1% Plan
Consider leaving just 1% of your estate to Alleman. This gift can help to ensure financial strength for Alleman and a future for our students.

Named Scholarship
Remember your loved one(s) by creating an endowed scholarship at Alleman, and provide tuition assistance for a student in need.

Life Insurance and 401(k)s
Name Alleman as a beneficiary to an existing or new life insurance policy. The premium payments may be tax deductible.

Securities or Property
A gift of appreciated securities (stocks or bonds) or real estate may be given to Alleman and can offer special tax advantages to you.

Creation of a Trust
A trust can be designed to meet any special set of circumstances to guarantee a family’s current and future needs and also provide a future gift to Alleman.

Gift Annuity
By establishing a gift annuity, you may be able to receive income on an ongoing basis and still provide a future gift to Alleman.

Please consult with your tax professional, your attorney, and your children before making any estate planning decisions.

“Our Son, Stephen, had a very high regard for Alleman High School and the education he received. We felt a scholarship in his name was an appropriate way to honor his memory.”
